Welcome to George Pattison's Website
Here in Oxford
This website begins here in Oxford, but will take you to other places around the world and into other domains of mind and spirit!
George Pattison is Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity in the University of Oxford, which means he is attached to the
Faculty of Theology at the University Theology faculty He is also a Canon (= resident priest) of Christ Church.
His most recent books are
Thinking about God in an Age of Technology, The Philosophy of Kierkegaard and
A Short Course in Christian Doctrine
Probably it's his work on Kierkegaard that's best known, and he's written several other books about this amazing and mind-blowing writer,
including Kierkegaard's Upbuilding Discourses
and "Poor Paris!".He is also a member of the translating team working on the first complete English translation of Kierkegaard's Journals and Notebooks
Why should anyone devote so many years of their life to this "singular" author who didn't want followers and expressed scorn for academic commentators?
