1st week - Friday 23rd January - QUIZ EVENING

Christ Church LR2 - 8pm

Most of the quiz will be informal in small groups - no need to be an expert! - but we will also be picking a team to play against Cambridge later in the term.

2nd Week - Thursday 29th January - TERRY PRATCHETT EVENT

Christ Church LR2 - 8pm

Dramatic reading from Stephen Briggs' adaptation of Mort. Parts will be cast on the night, participate or spectate as you prefer!

2nd Week - Friday 30th January - PANCAKE PARTY & AGM

8 PM - Location to be confirmed (Probably Fulford House, 81 Iffley Road, basement common room)

Pancake party plus a very brief Annual General Meeting. Some committee posts will be falling vacant, volunteers wanted, details nearer the time.

3rd Week - Friday 6th February - TOLKIEN ON TAPE

Christ Church LR2 - 8pm

Tolkien reading his poetry, Donald Swann's cycle, bits from LoTR, and more.

4th Week - Friday 13th February - DRAMATIC READING

From Farmer Giles Of Ham and other pieces. Parts will be cast on the night, participate or spectate as you like!

5th Week - Friday 20th February - BANQUET PREPARATION

Christ Church Baynes Room - 8pm

Come and learn the dances and rituals for...

5th Week - Saturday 21st February - BANQUET

7 PM - Location to be confirmed (Currently North Oxford Community Centre, Banbury Road, but may change if numbers grow very large.)

Sumptuous food, drink, dancing and more. Also a chance to meet Taruithornites down the years, from the Founder onwards. Dress theme is 'The Wedding Of Aragorn & Arwen.' Tickets should be bought in advance. See above, more details nearer the time.

6th Week - Friday 27th February - SPEAKER MEETING

Christ Church LR2 - 8pm

Richard Hamer knew and was lectured by JRR Tolkien, and was tutored by Christopher Tolkien before himself becoming a member of the English Faculty. Don't miss this chance to hear about Tolkien and his era at Oxford from one who was there!

6th Week - Saturday 28th February - QUIZ VERSUS CAMBRIDGE

Time and venue to be confirmed, probably Christ Church LR2 at 2 PM.

All welcome to come and provide moral support for our team!

7th Week - Thursday 4th March - POETRY READING/RECORDING

Christ Church Bayne Room - 8pm

We will read from The Lays Of Beleriand and other works.

7th Week - Friday 5th March - DEBATE

Christ Church LR2 - 8pm

The topic: "Does Fate or Free Will rule in Middle Earth?" All will have a chance to voice their opinions...

8th Week - Friday 12th March - VIDEO NIGHT

Christ Church Baynes Room - 8pm

We will watch the infamous Return Of The King cartoon with the singing orcs (so bad it's brilliant) and other things.
