1st week - Friday 20th January - Quiz Practice

Come along and take part in a friendly quiz in teams. Those who show expert level knowledge may be headhunted to defend our honour against Cambridge later in the term!

2nd Week - Thursday 26th January - Poetry Evening

Bring along your favourite poetry - whether written by yourself, Tolkien, or anyone else whose work you think we may enjoy.

2nd Week - Friday 27th January - Debate "Can Fantasy Be Successfully Dramatised?"

Prepared speakers will lead for both sides, then discussion will be thrown open to the floor.

3rd Week - Monday 30th January - Inter-Society Quiz

Teams from all the fantasy-related societies will take part: TolkSoc, OUSFG, DocSoc, RPGSoc and others possibly including the new Harry Potter society. It's highly informal - just turn up on the night!

3rd Week - Thursday 2nd February - Holiday Planning Meeting

For two years running, a group of members have gone youth hostelling in the Lake District at the start of the long vacation. Where and when might we go this year? You are welcome to take part in the discussion.

3rd Week - Friday 3rd February - Party and AGM

Come along for a party, to hear about how the society is run, and if you wish to stand for a post on the new committee.

4th Week - Thursday 9th February - Trip to the play of "Lords & Ladies" in Abingdon

Hear some of the best music inspired by Tolkien's works, and help compose a new song. Feel free to bring a musical instrument if you have one!

Learn the dances for tomorrow, also discuss costumes: some members will be bringing items to lend or exchange.

North Oxford Community Centre - 6.45 for 7 PM

Eat, drink, and dance! The annual banquet is our major event of the year, attended by many old as well as current members. With over 50 confirmed attendees, we expect this year's to set a new record.

Quiz versus the Cambridge Tolkien Society. To be held in Oxford this year. Come along and support our team! We normally meet the Cambridge group for lunch first, and repair to the pub afterwards.

7th Week - Thursday 2nd March - Pratchett dramatic reading

After discussing the dramatisation of fantasy, and seeing Stephen Briggs's Lords and Ladies, how successfully can we bring one of Terry Pratchett's works to life? All are welcome to take a part, or just watch if you wish.
