1st week - Friday 22nd January - Doriath Discussion

"A dark and hidden king did dwell, Lord of the forest and the fell..."

An evening examining what we know of Doriath, in preparation for the Banquet later this term.

2nd Week - Friday 29th January - Quiz Preparation

Christ Church LR2 - 8pm

Warming up for the annual battle of wits with our foes who punt from the wrong end, an evening of questions ranging from the trivial to the tricksy.

3rd Week - Friday 5th February - Creative Writing

Christ Church LR2 - 8pm

An evening to hone your own creative writing skills. Bring your best ideas along with you!

4th Week - Friday 12th February - Dance Practice

Christ Church LR2 - 8pm

Nothing so vigorous as the Springle-ring! Try some traditional folk dances, in anticipation of the next day's banquet.

4th Week - Saturday 13th February - Banquet

North Oxford Community Centre - 3pm until late

Wander into leafy Doriath for an evening, with all manner of elvish culinary delights. Access to Doriath available through North Oxford Community Centre for one night only. (Places must be booked in advance, sorry.)

5th Week - Friday 19th February - AGM (with Pancakes!)

Magdalen - Meet at Magdalen Lodge at 8pm

It's time once more to elect a new committee, and to aid us in this most difficult of tasks we will be providing pancakes. Bring along your favourite topping!

6th Week - Thursday 25th February - Film Viewing: The Princess Bride

Christ Church Bayne Room - 8pm prompt

A showing of this old classic, featuring fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles...

6th Week - Friday 26th February - Poetry Evening

Christ Church Bayne Room - 8pm

"It ain't what I call proper poetry, if you understand me: just a bit of nonsense."

Nonsense or sense, bring your favourite bit of poetry along (Tolkienian or otherwise), and enjoy an evening of delight in the spoken word. (Speaking in rhyme is non-compulsory.)

7th Week - Friday 5th March - Discussion on Women in Middle Earth

Christ Church LR2 - 8pm

An open discussion of women and Tolkein's works, covering everything from the women in them to the women who read them.

8th Week - Friday 12th March - Reduced Lord of the Rings and Silly Games

Come along to watch The Reduced Lord of the Rings (premiered in the same location a few years ago) performed again, and while away the final evening of term with friends in the comfort of the Bayne Room.
