Meetings will be held in Lecture Room 2, Christ Church College at 8 pm unless stated otherwise. Note the change in venue since last term.

First Week - Friday 14th October - INTRODUCTORY MEETING
Come to our first meeting of the year and meet the old members. You may get some idea of what the society does.
Second Week - Friday 21st October - SPEAKER MEETING
Pete Clark (our ex-president) will speak on 'Sex, Politics and Religion: Tolkien's morality'.
Third Week - Friday 28th October - WHOSE RING IS IT ANYWAY?
Yes, it's improvised drama again. Bring a prop, and a sense of humour.
Fourth Week - Friday 4th November - SEMINAR
Come and join the society in trying to talk some sense about 'The Lonely Mountain'. If you wish to give a short paper contact the committee.
Fifth Week - Friday 11th November - GANDALF'S FIREWORKS
We imitate the art of Gandalf (as known by the Hobbits) on Port Meadow. Meet at Somerville Lodge. Time to be arranged.
Sixth Week - Sunday 13th November - TRIP TO NORTHFARTHING
Our founding president is hosting the Northfarthing Smial (London branch of The Tolkien Society) in north-west London. Further details later.
Sixth Week - Friday 18th November - SLIDE SHOW
Christina Scull has been invited to give one of her amazing slide shows of illustrations of Tolkien's works. She will be moving to America soon, so this may be your last chance. As usual anyone wishing to dine the speaker should contact the committee.
Seventh Week - Friday 25th November - VIDEO EVENING
We have not decided what video we will watch yet. Please provide ideas for the committee. The venue will be announced later.
Eighth Week - Friday 2nd December - BRING A MATHOM PARTY
Time to get rid of any useless odds and ends you may have lying around. We encourage those with mathoms from previous years to recycle them. Also bring food and drink for a proper Shire-style party.

Details of the week's meeting should be in the Daily Information broadsheet every Friday. We have committee meetings on Monday evenings. Everyone is welcome. Ask a committee member for place and time. Role playing on Sunday afternoons may be organised if there is enough interest.
