All meetings are on Fridays at 8.00pm in Mansfield college unless specified otherwise. If you wish to dine with one of the speakers, contact Sarah Mackie (St Catz) in advance. All members are welcome to turn up to committee meetings. Ask a member of the it for details.

First week - Friday 13th October - Introductory Meeting
This has already happened. If you couldn't make it, feel free to come along to any of our other meetings...
Second week - Friday 20th October - "Explosives in Middle-earth"
The Dwarf (aka Colin Armstrong) presents his legendary talk, including a demonstration or two. Meet at Mansfield lodge at 8.00pm.
Third Week - Friday 27th October - Game Show Evening
Taruithorn pays irreverent homage to the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, featuring 'Whose Ring is it Anyway', 'Blockbusters' and 'Countdown'. Meeting in the Old Bar.
Fourth Week - Friday 3rd November - Speaker Meeting
Philip Howard, Times columnist will give a talk to the society. "I dare say I could work up some thoughts about Tolkien" he says. Meeting in the Old Bar.
Fifth Week - Friday 10th November - Galdalf's Fireworks
The Society's traditional "It's not Fireworks Night" fireworks night on Port Meadow. Food, drink and (maybe) live music (especially if you contribute some of it) around the bonfire. It has been rumoured that Gandalf himself will be attending. Meet Somerville lodge 7:30pm.
Sixth Week - Friday 17th November - "Writing and Printing in Middle-earth"
Lester Simons gives the excellent talk that he gave at the Tolkien Centenary Conference, with a chance to have a go with the impressive range of pens, paper and ink yourself. Meeting in Council Room.
Seventh Week - Friday 24th November - Video Evening
As the dark November nights draw in, leave your 7th week worries behind and settle down in comfort to watch The Princess Bride, and some historic children's TV. Meeting in the Old Bar.
Eighth Week - Friday 1st December - Bring a Mathom Party
A Christmas bash with a difference. Follow in the ancient Hobbit tradition and give away a Mathom: A useless item which you can't bear to throw away. Bring lots of food and drink. Venue undecided as yet.
