Meetings will be held in Lecture Room 2, Christ Church at 8 pm unless stated otherwise. Please bring food and drink to appropriate meetings.


First Week - Friday 16th October - FRESHERS' MEETING
A meeting to welcome newcomers to the Society.
Second Week - Friday 23rd October - RAYNER UNWIN
Rayner Unwin reviewed The Hobbit as a child, and recommended to his father that it should be published. He later became Tolkien's publisher himself, and then Christopher's, until Unwin Hyman were sold to HarperCollins a few years ago. He will be talking about Tolkien's relationship with his publishers.
Third Week - Friday 30th October - WHOSE RING IS IT ANYWAY
A return, after many years, of the Taruithorn take off of Whose Line is it Anyway?.
Fourth Week - Friday 6th November - GANDALF'S FIRWORKS
The annual fireworks display. More details will be supplied later.
Fifth Week - Friday 13th November - DEBATE
After the announcement of the plans to make a trilogy of films based on The Lord of the Rings, the topic for debate this term is "Making a film of the Lord of the Rings is a bad idea. Points of view for and against this motion are welcome.
Sixth Week - Friday 20th November - SPEAKER MEETING
Ex-secretary Rob Bielby will give a talk about "The Trees and Woods of Middle-earth", before he leaves Oxford.
Seventh Week - Friday 27th November - VIDEO EVENING
We will show a video, possibly in the Christ Church GCR. The video to be watched will be decided at a later date.
Eigth Week - Friday 4th December - BRING A MATHOM PARTY
The annual Bring a Mathom Party comes around again to finish off the term.
