Bayne Room - Christ Church Bayne Room, door about one-third along right side of front quad, ground floor


Lee Building - Christ Church Lee Building, reached though arch about two-thirds along right side of front quad


Masters Garden - Christ Church, from the southeast (back right) corner of the front quad, go a bit more southeast through the cloisters, then follow the path that leads east to the big garden with the croquet lawn.

2nd Week - Monday 30th April - May Morning Party

As is traditional in Oxford, we stay up all night playing games and generally having fun, waiting until the sun rises at 6am, when we head to the bridge to listen to the Magdalen choir.

A discussion of the newly published Tolkien book The Children of Hurin.

3rd Week - Friday 11th May - Tolkien Dramatic Reading


Christ Church Master's Garden, meeting outside Bayne Rm - 7 PM


We will be reading out pieces from Tolkien's works out in the sunshine, or if the weather isn't nice to us in the Bayne Rm. There will also be snacks!

4th Week - Friday 18th May - Punt Practice


Magdalen bridge punt hire 5.30 PM, St Hilda's 6 PM


In preparation for the Drogo Memorial Punt Party later in the term, we will be recalling how to punt, or teaching those who never had a chance to try it.

4th Week - Saturday 19th February - Strawberry Party


Masters Garden and Freind Room (Lee Building), Christ Church, 3 PM meeting at Christ Church Lodge


We'll be meeting to eat a lot strawberries and other tasty things (members £2, non-members £3).

We do our best to beat Minas Tirith, the Cambridge University Tolkien Society, at the noble sport of croquet.

6th Week - Friday 1st June - Golfimbol


Angel and Greyhound meadow - Time TBA


The game of Golfimbol was invented during the Battle of Greenfields, when Bandobras Took knocked the head off Golfimbul the Orc-Chieftain and it flew into a rabbit-hole. We'll be reenacting the vents of the battle (yes, we have a head to knock about too!)

7th Week - Friday 8th June - Wyrd Sisters Dramatic Reading

Continuing the recent trend of Pratchett-related events, we will be reading out pieces of one of his Discworld novels - Wyrd Sisters.

7th Week - Saturday 9th June - Port Meadow Walk

We'll head north to the Port Meadow for a pleasant walk and possibly some pubbing too.

8th Week - Friday 15th June - Drogo Memorial Punt Party

The term ends on a high note with the traditional Punt Party.
