Please note: The majority of events are now taking place on Fridays

1st week - Thursday 30th April/Friday 1st May - May Morning

Location: TBA - Time: TBA

It is traditional to stay up through the night to hear the choristers sing at dawn from Magdalen tower - it's likely we'll have a group doing just this, and another getting up early.

1st Week - Friday 1st May - Film Viewing

Christ Church Bayne Room - 8pm

"Home is behind, the world ahead, and there are many paths to tread."

We'll be watching the third and final installment of Peter Jackson's interpretation of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

1st Week - Saturday 2nd May - Punt Practice

Location: TBA - Time: TBA

"he went out boating on the Brandywine River; and he and his wife were drownded,"

Practise your punting skills with us, so you don't end up like poor old Drogo! If people can book out college punts and bring them along, that would be much appreciated.

2nd Week - Thursday 7th May - Archive Clearing

Christ Church Bayne Room - 8pm

The society archive is, alas, getting quite full, and could do with some (belated) spring cleaning. Join us to herald in a new era in, er, Archive Organisation...

2nd Week - Friday 8th May - Golfimbul

Location: TBA - Time: TBA

"He charged the ranks of the goblins of Mount Gram in the Battle of the Green Fields, and knocked their king Golfimbul's head clean off with a wooden club. It sailed a hundred yards through the air and went down a rabbit hole, and in this way the battle was won and the game of Golf invented at the same moment."

This evening we'll be honouring this epic moment in Middle-Earth's sporting history with - likely as not - much hilarity and silliness. And maybe a little golf... but probably just something resembling a generic ball-game.

3rd Week - Thursday 14th May - Singing

Christ Church LR2 - 8pm

As many of us enjoy singing, especially singing together, why not come and learn some songs together - possibly with a Tolkien theme - that we can then annoy everyone else with by singing. Singing ability not required.

3rd Week - Friday 15th May - Games Evening

Location: ChCh Bayne Room - Time: 8pm

Given the weather on Friday, a change of plans to Board and Party games in the Bayne Room. May or may not include Werewolf and/or Hat Game, according to preference of people there.

4th Week - Friday 22nd May - Wide Games

Location: TBA - Time: TBA

Following ill-weather last week, we'll be doing Wide Games in week 4. An evening of outdoor games, weather permitting, in some leafy glade not far from the dreaming spires. What's not to like?

5th Week - Friday 29th May - Filking

Meeting time and place tba

Once upon a time songs were sacred and untouchable. Join us as we butcher our way through classics both recent and modern in an attempt to be funny.

5th Week - Saturday 30th May - Strawberry Party

Location: TBA - Time: Afternoon onwards

Strawberries, Pimms, and Croquet abound in the annual Tolkien Society Strawberry Party. An afternoon of merry-making and strawberries.

6th Week - Friday 5th June - Readings in the Gardens

Location: TBA - Time: TBA

Enjoy the late evenings summer brings by sharing your favourite passages of Tolkien's works with others in the beautiful setting of an Oxford garden.

7th Week - Saturday 13th June - Port Meadow Walk

Location: Little Clarendon St. (outside G&Ds) - Time: TBA

A pleasant walk out in the summer sun, beginning with ice-cream. Join us for a walk, possibly stopping for food/drinks at a pub (which will probably be named after an aquatic animal).

7th Week - Friday 12th June - Event?

Christ Church Bayne Room - 8pm

We're still uncertain of exactly what we'll be doing this week, but we'll have something planned soon...

8th Week - Thursday 18th June - Unspecified Event

Christ Church Bayne Room - 8pm

The last normal-ish event of term, there may be more explicit plans made later. Fun and frivolity are guaranteed, whatever the event.

8th Week - Friday 19th June - Drogo Memorial Punt Party

Location: TBA - Early Evening

Commemorate Drogo by being drownded as we go punting on this most inauspicious of dates.
