1st week - Friday 30th April - Saturday 1st May - May Morning

Christ Church Bayne Room - 8pm

The Oxford tradition of May Morning involves staying up all night to hear choristers sing from the top of Magdalen Tower at dawn. Spend the night in the company of Taruithorn, beginning in the comfortable Bayne Room.

2nd Week - Friday 7th May - Wide Games

An evening of outdoor games, weather permitting, in some leafy glade not far from the dreaming spires. What's not to like?

3rd Week - Friday 14th May - Cloak Preparation

Christ Church LR2 - 8pm

Interested in making your own cloak? Several members of the society already have, and this evening will provide tips and advice on how to do so, as well as the opportunity to look at cloaks already made.

3rd Week - Saturday 15th May - Punt Practice

Practise your punting skills with us, so you don't end up like poor old Drogo! If people can book out college punts and bring them along, that would be much appreciated.

4th Week - Thursday 20th May - Film: Born of Hope

Christ Church Bayne Room - 8pm

Born of Hope is the positively-reviewed fan film of the story of Aragorn's parents, Arathorn II and Gilraen, come along to watch with like-minded Tolkien fans.

4th Week - Friday 21st May - Golfimbul

"He charged the ranks of the goblins of Mount Gram in the Battle of the Green Fields, and knocked their king Golfimbul's head clean off with a wooden club. It sailed a hundred yards through the air and went down a rabbit hole, and in this way the battle was won and the game of Golf invented at the same moment."

This evening we'll be honouring this epic moment in Middle-Earth's sporting history with - likely as not - much hilarity and silliness. And maybe a little golf... but probably just something resembling a generic ball-game.

5th Week - Thursday 27th May - Photographic Walk around Oxford

Enjoy the late evenings summer brings by sharing your favourite passages of Tolkien's works with others in the beautiful setting of an Oxford garden

6th Week - Friday 4th June - Filking

Christ Church Bayne Room - 8pm

Once upon a time songs were sacred and untouchable. Join us as we butcher our way through classics both recent and modern in an attempt to be funny.

6th Week - Saturday 5th June - Strawberry Party

Location: TBA - Time: Afternoon onwards

Strawberries, Pimms, and Croquet abound in the annual Tolkien Society Strawberry Party. An afternoon of merry-making and strawberries.

7th Week - Friday 11th June - Sil and Card Games

Christ Church LR2 - 8pm

An evening of discussion of good and interesting card games, as well as an introduction to a Rogue-like computer game with a Tolkien theme, being developed by a member of the society.

8th Week - Friday 18th June - Drogo Memorial Punt Party

Location: TBA - Time: Early Evening onwards

Commemorate Drogo by being drownded as we go punting on this most inauspicious of dates.
