GeoExpress 2000 is built with AVS Express. It was originally developed at Rio Tinto Mining and Exploration and has now been released for general sale by IGM Ltd.
The purpose of the product is to provided a 3D system for visualizing and analysing exploration data in the search for economic minerals. Data can range from satellite images, geological features, drill hole assays, geophysical surveys and models.
The user is provided with a cut down version of the Express Network Editor with numerous additional macros and modules. The advantage and problems with this approach over a more static menu driven system will be discussed.
Examples from actual applications will be presented as well as problems experienced in developing and marketing an AVS based product.
