Dear Colleagues,

You may be aware of this already but among recent changes
in the MARC language codes is a new code (zxx) for "No linguistic content"
to be used in 008/35-37. This will be used most commonly for scores and
sound recordings with no sung or spoken text or for other resources with no
written textual content. The three blanks code (###) currently used for
this purpose has been redefined as "No information provided". The GeoCat
MARC tables have been updated to reflect this change.

Details of the new codes can be found on the MARC Code List for Languages
(http://www.loc.gov/marc/langchg.html). Please don't hesitate to contact
CSS if you have any queries about this or any other data in the 008 field.

Best wishes,
