I am a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of the West of England, in Bristol, and a member of Wolfson College, Oxford.

Research Interests:
Ancient Philosophy (esp. Stoicism, the Aristotelian Commentators), Medieval Philosophy (esp. the Aristotelian tradition), Renaissance Philosophy (esp. the reception of Hellenistic Philosophy), Justus Lipsius and Neostoicism, Ralph Cudworth and Cambridge Platonism, the continuing legacy of Ancient Philosophy in contemporary philosophy, metaphilosophy.

Current Projects:
Monograph on Marcus Aurelius, contributions to Blackwell’s "A Companion to Marcus Aurelius" and Brill’s "Companion to Seneca", a sourcebook on Late Stoicism.

I am also a Fellow of, and teach for, The London Consortium, a multidisciplinary graduate programme in the Humanities, involving Birkbeck College, the Sceince Museum, the AA, ICA, and Tate.
