Baroque Dance Studies: Technique, Presentation, & Notation

All levels from the absolute beginner to the advanced/professional dancer

This ten-day Summer School is flexible, allowing attendance from one to ten days, as well as on a part-time basis. The course is modular in structure; the core subject is technique, with two out of three options as well as various lectures, master classes, etc.

Bank Holiday Monday is an extra day, with afternoon rehearsals for the evening ball, which will include demonstrations from course participants.

Philippa
Waite

Philippa is well known as a performer and teacher of Baroque Dance. She has studied with Wendy Hilton, and has taught for her at the annual Baroque Music and Dance Workshops at Stanford University, U.S.A. Philippa currently teaches Period Movement and Dance at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Trinity College of Music, London, and the Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff.

She is the Artistic Director of Consort de Danse Baroque, and choreographs in the Baroque style for the company's productions. She also teaches, performs, and gives lecture-demonstrations throughout the U.K. and abroad.

 
 
 

Judith
Appleby

Judith is a pupil of and assistant teacher to Philippa Waite, a member of Consort de Danse Baroque, and notator to the company. She has taught on Consort's Summer Schools for five years, and is now co-director. Judith is co-author with Philippa and notator of Beauchamp-Feuillet Notation: A Basic Guide, of which a second, expanded edition is now in preparation.
