Expressions of future in English
I have performed and published corpus-based studies on the use of will, 'll, shall, going to and gonna in a variety of corpora, examining variation with type of text, type of speaker, time and other linguistic and non-linguistic factors. I've also been involved in collaborative research on the semantic properties of going to.
Corpus Linguistics
In addition to work on theoretical aspects of corpus compilation and use, I have worked on a range of corpus compilation and development projects, such as the Uppsala Student English corpus, Uppsala Press Corpus, British National Corpus, BNC Baby, SACODEYL project. My main interest lies in the areas of:
First World War
I am interested in music and singing during the First World War; what role did music and songs play, what was played and sung, and what can we find today by exploring diaries and other personal material form the War? I am mainly using material identified through WWI crowdsourcing projects in which I have been involved, such as

What does using digital resources mean for teaching, learning and research? How can digital resources be created to support education and research?
