Carbon footprint

The Organisers are committed to offsetting the CO2 emissions from this event with the Oxford based organisation Climate Care. Calculations of emissions are based on estimates of the distances travelled by each delegate, as well as the energy uses of the accommodation and venue for the duration of the event.

Climate Care is a service that helps you to repair the damage your activities do to the climate. It does this by ‘offsetting’ the greenhouse gas emissions, such as CO2, from your activities by reducing an equivalent amount of CO2 on your behalf.

These reductions are made through a range of projects in renewable energy and energy efficiency, which not only fight climate change but bring benefits to communities round the world. You can offset emissions from flying, driving and household energy use. To find out more visit www.climatecare.org.

To offset the CO2 emissions from the Felid Biology and Conservation Conference, we would like to ask all delegates to specify their routes and mode of transport from door to door, when they complete the registration form. This will allow us to improve the accuracy of calculations and payment can then be made to Climate Care in order to reduce carbon emissions elsewhere.

Any delegate wishing to make a voluntary contribution towards the cost of offsetting emissions is gratefully invited to do so. This will be possible when registering. Preliminary estimates of carbon emissions have been calculated and suggest that offsetting for national delegates will be about £2, for European delegates £5 and for wider international delegates £20. With many delegates coming from a variety of locations please feel free to adjust these figures as your budget allows.
