Dr. Elena Tobolkina completed her PhD in the Laboratory of Physical and Analytical Electrochemistry at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland under supervision of Prof. Hubert Girault. Her PhD studies have been in the field of electrophoresis and mass spectrometry, where she was working on developing new applications and methods for the separation and analysis of biological samples. During her PhD she successfully achieving a patent entitled “Electrostatic spray ionization method” (US Provisional Application No. 61/583.932) and publishing scientific papers in high-quality peer-reviewed journals. Prior to her PhD studies at EPFL, she graduated from the Physical Chemistry Department of St-Petersburg State University, Russia. As a postdoctoral researcher in Ben Davis’ group, Elena is working on developing new strategies for creation of synthetic proteoglycans.
