Party near Yateholme Reservoir, Holme Valley
Weather: Very windy with frequent squally showers, some of hail. Cold but above freezing with high wind chill
Party: John, Jim B, Jim T, Robert, Phil
We met at Hepworth and travelled by bus to Holmfirth where we had coffee, and then by a second bus to Holme village. From the bus terminus we walked carefully along the A6024 Home Moss road for ½ mile to the bend just above Ings Bridge where we turned east onto Sand Road, the track which goes round the reservoirs. We followed this past Yateholme Reservoir, then across the dam of Riding Wood Reservoir with views down Ramsden Reservoir. We followed the track past Ramsden Reservoir which becomes a minor road as it passes Brownlee Reservoir and led us to Holmbridge, where we arrived at 1.30 and had lunch at the Bridge Inn.
After lunch we walked by a combination of road (A6024 again) and riverside path round Hinchcliffe Mill, back to Holmfirth from where, after further refreshment at Harvey's, we caught a bus back to Hepworth.
It was a good walk despite the showers, which never lasted long enough to really wet us. We walked 6 miles.
