There is such a variety of climbing in Devon that it's difficult to sum up, even though Devon meets always seem to have a very distinct character. Venues tend to depend a lot on the weather, with anything from the windswept granite tors of Dartmoor or the mysterious buttresses of the Dewerstone, to the sunny limestone sea-cliffs of Torbay or the steep, polished walls of Chudleigh rocks. About the only thing you can guarantee down here is a surreal late-night arrival at some godforsaken 'campsite', which results in surprise on Saturday morning when the dawn reveals exactly where you pitched your tent... Not forgetting, of course, an excellent night's entertainment in the Plume of Feathers pub, and traditional storm that may or may not blow your tent away...
