Description: The ACTORS program will process the electronic text version of a play and, based on the entrance-and-exit stage directions, it provides information about which characters are on stage simultaneously. Such information can inform dramatic performances, and can indicate errors and omissions in the text.
Specifically, ACTORS provides three kinds of information: listings of the characters that are on stage simultaneously; entries broken down by character to show which characters appear on stage together at least once and which characters never appear on stage together; a listing of possible doubling of roles for a performance of a play.
Requirements: IBM-compatible PC; at least 2MB of RAM.
Further information: the developer maintains an information page for the program at: http://www.dsu.edu/~johnsone/ericpgms.html
ACTORS is described in Johnson (1994).
