A Jack Kerouac ROMnibus

Description: Jack Kerouac is regarded as influential in the development of the twentieth-century American canon. This multimedia CD-ROM includes the complete text of The Dharma Bums linked to notes, photographs, graphics, music, and video. There are also selections from other Kerouac writings including Mexico City Blues. The Kerouac Sampler includes music and readings of extracts of Kerouac's work by Graham Parker, Ann Charters, Michael McClure and others. Background material includes a timeline of Kerouac's life set against key world events, a 'Beat family tree' which illustrates the relationships between Kerouac and other Beat Generation fingues (Ginsberg, Cassidy, Snyder, etc.), and a range of archival materials. The CD-ROM is accompanied by notes for how the CD-ROM might be used in teaching.

Requirements: PC running Windows 3.1+ with 8MB RAM, a sound card, and CD-ROM drive.
