Description: Prometheus is a program for searching the TLG(D) and PHI CD-ROMs. Simple searches for a word or phrase can be entered and it is hoped that later releases will also allow boolean searching. Search results are presented in a table, from which individual entries can be clicked to bring up the text. The program works unaided for searching the CD-ROMs and can also be used in conjunction with a piece of public domain software called Wish to get information from the Perseus web site. It is set to automatically use the SMK Greek fonts but a specially written font for use with the TLG is available from the author.
Requirements: Apple Macintosh running System 7.0 or higher with at least 8 MB of RAM and a CD-ROM drive.
Further information: Any queries should be sent to the author, Don Wilkins (e-mail dwilkins@ucr.campus.mci.net). The Wish software is available free as part of the Tcl/Tk package at http://www.sunlabs.com:80/research/tcl/install.html.
Distributor:The software is available to download free from the Perseus Project FTP site. The URL is ftp://gouda.perseus.tufts.edu/pub/Prometheus/
