Boston Boston Although the area was populated by native americans well before Europeans arrived, Boston's history really begins with the English settlers in the 17th century. It rapidly became an important port and has figured sttrongly in all aspects of modern America's history.
Boston lies on the mouth of the Charles river and faces the magnificent natural harbour of Boston Bay. It is the capital and cultural centre of Massachusetts and one of the foremost educational centres of the US.
