Bronte Parsonage

Life was very severe for the Bronte children. Their mother died when they were very little and their father was a cold and harsh minister for the small community of Haworth. The girls coped with their cheerless lives by writing stories for each other and a wonderful gift to the world.

The parsonage is now a museum housing some of the original rooms, clothing and manuscripts. The original copy of Jane Eyre is in a glass case open to the page where Mr. Rochester proposes to Jane! It is wonderful to see it in the hand of the author, neatly scripted in pen and ink.
