     little hamlet (Cumnor) that was the home of the

     Buckners, and from it in later years went forth sons,

     some to rise to high emolument and honor in the          

     Church of England, others to forsake husbandry for the

     more exciting life of barter and commerce in the

     New World' (in fact, the case is not proven). Will

     refers also to 'oldeman Thomas', either a servant or

     From Hugh's or Thomas's line may have come the

     John and Philip Buckner, brothers, who emigrated to       

     Virginia in 1667 with  considerable success.
