               Joseph lived behind 46 High St. early in 1900s; was a road labr.

               nicknamed 'Shep', sister Bessie running a sweet shop.

               In1906/7 he and his sister became guardians of the chn of Peter Pike,

               a brother living at 150 Argyle St., Leicester. One of the children,

               Benjamin, did not come down in 1906/7, being old enough to leave

               school, but either he or his father (next-of-kin) stayed in Cumnor

               in the 1910s because Benjamin was killed in 1917 in Flanders (Tyne

               Cot cemetery) and commemorated on Cumnor's war memorial.
