Daniel DeBrincat was born in the Mediterranean island of Gozo. He received his B.Sc.(Hons.) degree in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Malta. He carried out undergraduate research on a novel type of photo-NOCAS reaction in the lab of Professor Robert M. Borg. He later became a member of the Research and Development team in Medichem Manufacturing (Malta) Ltd. where he conducted research on active pharmaceutical ingredients as a process chemist. Daniel is currently undertaking research in peptide synthesis under the direction of Professor Ben G. Davis. He is funded through the STEPS scheme.
