Pieter received his Masters in chemistry at Ghent University, Belgium before moving to Oxford to start his DPhil in the BGD group. His research focuses on post-translational modifications, unnatural sugar synthesis, single channel recording and multivalency. Outside the lab, Pieter is interested in fieldsports but especially falconry. He is funded through the Marie-Curie foundation.
