Sarah Faulkner
D.Phil.

Sarah completed a BSc in Chemistry at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, before moving to the Australian National University’s Research School of Chemistry to undertake a one year Honours degree under the supervision of Dr. Colin Jackson and Prof. Michelle Coote. Her work during this time focussed on investigating radical stabilization effects in the active site of Pyruvate Formate Lyase Activating Enzyme using both structural biology techniques and computational modelling. She then continued to work briefly at ANU with Dr. Jackson and Prof. Thomas Huber on developing thermostable unnatural amino acid tRNA synthetases using ancestral reconstruction, and engineering improved amino acid binding proteins through computational design. Sarah is currently studying for a DPhil in Chemical Biology in the Ben Davis group. Her project is based around synthetically modified proteins, focussing specifically on creating logic-gated antibodies and developing methodology for palladium mediated reactions.
