Dr Yi-Pin Chang
Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Dr. Yi-Pin Chang was born in Taiwan, where he received BEng in Chemical Engineering at Feng Chia University, MS in Applied Chemistry at Chinese Culture University and PhD in Chemistry and Biochemistry at National Chung Cheng University. He completed his master thesis in Natural Product Chemistry and obtained outstanding student award under the supervision of Dr. Yao-Haur Kuo at National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine. Yi-Pin's PhD training commenced with an international and multidisciplinary project in Prof. Yen-Ho Chu's group. In collaboration with Dr. Ravi Mahadeva at the University of Cambridge and Dr. Wun-Shaing Wayne Chang at National Health Research Institutes, combinatorial chemistry and biosensor technology were employed to tackle a clinical manifestation, AATD (Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency). This work and other SPR/peptide projects were awarded in the Annual Chinese Chemical Society Conference 2005/2007 and 29th European Peptide Symposium (where Yi-Pin also met his partner, a serindipitious award).

Before moving to Prof. Benjamin G. Davis' group at the University of Oxford in October 2008, Yi-Pin served as a lieutenant at Army Chemical School and Chung Cheng Armed Forces Preparatory School where he received a service award from the Ministry of National Defence. He is now working in the interface of Chemistry and Biology and has collaboration with Prof. Terry D. Butters at Oxford Glycobiology Institute. In his leisure time, except people normally love to do, he enjoys soft/hard modding computers and practicing Taekwondo (it has been thirteen years since his last kick/punch before joining OUTKD though).
