Where I have been
For most of the last 17 years I have been at Oxford University. From 1985 to 1989 I
studied for a BA Chemistry degree at Corpus Christi College. From 1989 to
1992 I did research for my DPhil at the Physical Chemistry Laboratory and
was attached to St John's College.
After this I spent one year at the Department of Biochemistry. From
1993-97 I was a Junior Research Fellow in Chemistry at Merton College, Oxford. I spent
one year at the College of
Chemistry of UC Berkeley, and
then returned to Oxford at the Oxford Centre for Molecular Sciences (OCMS). In October 1998 I became a
Royal Society University Research
Fellow at the Oxford University Centre for Quantum Computation, and returned to Corpus Christi College as a Research
Fellow.
From April 2002 I have been Fellow and Tutor in Physics at Brasenose College, and from April 2003
I have been University Lecturer in Atomic and Laser
Physics within the Department of Physics.
Research
My research at the OCMS involved the development of novel NMR techniques for
the study of protein folding. More recently, I have been
working on the development of
NMR Quantum Computers.
