Travelling to 20 Tree Lane from Oxford City Centre

We live at 20 Tree Lane, Iffley Village, Oxford OX4 4EY. For a map see streetmap or google maps. Note that Tree Lane is blocked to cars at the junction with Woodhouse Way, so it is important to enter it from the right end!

Travelling by Car

Head out along the Iffley Road. Shortly after the Donnington Bridge traffic lights turn right into Iffley Turn. At the mini roundabout turn right into Church Way. At the Tree Hotel turn left into Tree Lane. Number 20 is on the right hand side near the top, with a large beech tree in front. There is a turning space opposite number 26. Parking is limited, so please let us know beforehand if you are coming by car. Please do not park in the turning space or on the road!

Travelling by Taxi

A taxi from Carfax following the above route will normally cost about eight pounds. Alternatively, it is slightly quicker and cheaper to direct the taxi from the mini roundabout up Woodhouse Way to the junction with Tree Lane: the road leaves on the left but on foot you can turn right past the bollards into our part of Tree Lane. Number 20 is the fifth house on the left.

Travelling by Bus

Catch the #3 bus from Carfax or outside Queens College heading for Rose Hill (about four pounds return). Get off at the second Iffley Turn stop (midway up the hill after the main traffic lights), cross the road, walk along Iffley Turn to the mini roundabout and then follow the second taxi route above. Note that return tickets cannot always be swapped between the various buses that ply this route. Alternatively, the scenic route is to take the bus all the way to its terminus at The Oval in Rose Hill. Walk down Lenthall Road, and then take the footpath through to Eastchurch which joins Church Way at the very end. Walk out of the village along Church Way and turn right at the Tree Hotel into Tree Lane.

Travelling by Bike

The most direct route is to follow the second taxi route above, but it is much nicer to go along the Meadow Lane cycle path. Head out along the Iffley Road, and after the University Sports Ground turn right into Jackdaw Lane. The second turn on the left is Meadow Lane, which alternates between a road and a cycle path. Continue along Meadow Lane to the very end where it joins Church Way. Turn right and then left at the Tree Hotel into Tree Lane. This route takes me about 15 minutes.

Note that Meadow lane is prone to flooding after heavy rain, and may be impassable on foot, though bikes can usually get through.

Travelling by Boat

We are easily reached from Iffley Lock. Follow the footpath into Iffley, turn left at the junction with Mill Lane and left at the crossroads into Church Way. Turn right at the Tree Hotel into Tree Lane.
