St. Catz now has a new Lodge -
the building to the left of the road at the back of the picture. There are car parking spaces available where you see cars parked on the left and we have been promised 15 parking permits which we can distribute to exhibitors etc. There are trolleys available at the Lodge for transporting equipment. St. Catz itself is reached by turning right just before you reach the Lodge. |
| The Lodge contains two large
seminar rooms - identical in shape and size. They can seat roughly 60
people each with the tables moved to the edges of the rooms. There was
a question mark as to how many chairs St. Catz would have available, so
this should probably be checked once we know numbers. |

Each of the Lodge seminar rooms
can be sub-divided by pulling dividers along the rails above Malcolm's
head. This would provide two rooms seating roughly 25 people each. We
were assured that the sound proofing is pretty good. Unfortunately the
transformation takes at least 20 minutes, so we would need to decide
whether we want the rooms large or divided and stick to it - no
swapping between workshops. |
| At the moment the Lodge rooms
are equipped with free-standing screens and projectors. Built-in
equipment is supposed to be installed in May.... |

Conference registration would
probably take place in the foyer of the Bernard Sunley Theatre. This is
the rather un-inviting approach. |
| We would have enough room to set
up registration tables here and serve tea/coffee. There is a room to
the left (outside the picture at the front) which could be used as
exhibition and additional tea/coffee area. The main lecture theatre is
to the right. The main theatre has fixed seating for 200 and space for
extra chairs at the sides. |

The Bernard Sunley Building
contains 4 seminar rooms in addition to the main theatre. Room A is the
one already mention for exhibition/tea/coffee. Room B on the left is a
small room seating roughly 12 people (I wrote down 25 in my notes, but
that must be without tables - or I wasn't listening). Room C, below on
the left takes roughly 50 and room D would take about 40 (the tables
cannot be removed). Rooms C and D both have projectors available, but
not room B. |

If we are really stuck for
workshop space we could use the JCR Theatre which seats roughly 80. Two
factors dictate that we should avoid this if we can:

The dining hall is too big to
get a decent picture of it with my little flash. Although it isn't
exactly bright, it also isn't as gloomy as it looks here. |
