Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Priest: Let us pray to the Lord.

Mother: Lord, have mercy.

Priest:

O Lord, God Almighty, The Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who, by your world alone, have created all rational and non-rational nature; who have brought forth everything out of nothingness into being, we pray you and ask of you: Cleanse from every sin your servant N whom by your will have preserved, as she prepares to enter your holy Church, so that she may blamelessly partake of your holy sacraments.
For you are a good God who love mankind, and to you we ascribe glory, to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages.

Mother: Amen.

This far if the baby is not living. If the baby is present, the Priest touches its head, saying:

Priest:

And bless this child (these children) born from her, O Lord, and grant it (them) growth, holiness, understanding, self-restraint, right thinking, for you have brought it (them) into being and have shown to it (them) the light of day; so that it (they) may become worthy to receive also the spiritual light at a time pleasing to you, and may be numbered among your holy flock, through your only-begotten Son, with whom you are blessed, together with your all-holy and good and life-giving Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages.

Mother: Amen.

Prayer for the Mother of the Child

Priest: Peace be with all.

Mother: And with your spirit.

Priest: Let us bow our heads to the Lord.

Mother: To you, O Lord.

Priest: Let us pray to the Lord.

Mother: Lord, have mercy.

Priest:

O Lord, our God, Who through the incarnation of your only-begotten Son came down for the salvation of the human race, come now to your servant N and, through the prayers of the revered presbyters, make her worthy to find refuge in your holy catholic Church; grant her to enter the temple of your glory, and worthily to partake of the precious Body and Blood of your Christ. Stregthen her on the completion of the forty days, so that, having been found worthy to enter your holy church, she may glorify with us your all- holy name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages.

Mother: Amen.

If the child has already been baptized or has died, the priest says the dismissal. If not, he reads the following prayer:

Priest:

O Lord, our God, who on the fortieth day after your birth were brought as a child to the Temple of the Law, by your holy Mother Mary, who knew no husband, and were held in the arms of the righteous Symeon: Do you, Almighty Master, bless this child (these children) brought before you, the Creator of all, and make it (them) grow in every good work that is pleasing to you, and drive far from it (them) every hostile power by the making of the Sign of your Cross; for you are the one who guard the infants, Lord; so that, having been granted holy baptism, it (they) may attain a share in the kingdom reserved for your chosen ones, and may be guarded, along with us, by the grace of the holy and consubstantial and indivisible Trinity.
For to you belong all glory and thanksgiving and worship, together with your beginningless Father and your all-holy and good and life- giving Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages.

Priest:

O God, the Father Almighty, through the clear proclamation of your Prophet Isaiah you foretold to us the incarnation from a Virgin of your only-begotten Son and our God. In the last times by your own choice and with the cooperation of the Holy Spirit, in your endless compassion, you consented to become an infant from her, for the salvation of us mortals. In accordance with the custom of your holy law, after the completion of the days of purification, you consented, being yourself the true law-giver, to be brought to the Temple, and you submitted to be held in the arms of the righteous Symeon. This mystery was prefigured and made manifest to us in the vision of the Propet Isaiah through the burning coal carried with tongs, and this same mystery we the faithful imitate by grace. And now do you, the same Lord who guard the infants, bless this child (these children) together with his (her) (their) parents and make him (her) (them) worthy, at the appropriate time, of rebirth by water and the Spirit, number him (her) (them) among the flock of your reason-endowed sheep who are called by the name of your Christ.
For you are the one who dwell on high and watch over the lowly, and to you we ascribe glory, to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages.

Mother: Amen.

Then the Priest takes the child (the children) in his arms makes the sign of the Cross with it (them)in front of the entrance to the church, and says:

The servant(s) of God N is (are) brought within the church, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Then he procceds to the center of the nave and says:

I shall enter your house, O Lord, I shall worship in your holy Temple. The servant(s) of God N is (are) brought within the church, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
In the middle of the church shall I praise you. The servant(s) of God N is (are) brought within the church in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Then he takes the baby(ies) into the Sanctuary, counter clockwise, around the Holy Altar, and says:

Now, Master, let your servant depart in peace,
according to your promise;
for my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the presence of all the peoples,
a light of revelation to the Gentiles,
and glory to your people Israel.

The Dismissal

Priest:

Glory to you, O God our hope, glory to you. May Christ, our true God, who submitted to be held in the arms of the righteous Symeon for our salvation, through the intercessions of his most pure and undefiled holy Mother; through the power of the precious and life- giving Cross; through the protection of the venerable bodiless powers in heaven; through the prayers of the venerable and glorious Prophet and Forerunner John the baptist, of the holy, glorious and all-praised Apostles, of the holy, glorious and victorious Martyrs, of our venerable and God-bearing Fathers, of the holy and righteous ancestors of the Lord God Joachim and Anna, and of all the Saints, have mercy on us and save us for he is a good and merciful God who loves mankind.
Through the prayers of our holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
