Michaelmas Term Week 2

6.30pm, Sunday 22nd October 2006

Hi Everybody,

If you count Freshers' Week, we're a third of the way through Michaelmas Term now, and life in the Orienteering Club seems to be good. We've had another good week, with a few more new faces and regular showings from our old guard. To end the week was today's Training Day at Shotover, which showcased a few great courses and some great advice from Joe Mercer, our Training Officer.

Next week we'll be going to an event at Chobham, which will be another great chance to experience orienteering for newcomers to the club and put today's training session's techniques into practice for those who were at Shotover. Kat will be sending out details about this soon, and also information about the Cambridge Sprint-O, which we'll be attending in the middle of November...

The Cambridge Sprint-O is a great event which involves racing around a set of short loop courses. Followed by the infamous Alc-O (orienteering with alcohol, should it need explanation), a curry, a party, a night on a Tab's floor, and then an event in Epping on the way home the next day. This makes a great weekend away and is an awesome break from the standard tedium of Oxford life!

Core training sessions will be continuing next week too - again, Joe will provide information about what's happening. We're looking forward to seeing you, whether at training, Sunday's event, or preferably both!
