A commanding race from start to finish by Khodotovitch, who never doubted her win, but an incredible battle for second place between Trine Hansen of Denmark and Roumiana Neykova of Bulgaria. They swapped second and third several times, pushing at 900, 1250 and 1750, and each time both responded. At 1850 Neykova threw in another spurt, and Hansen, already rating high, increased her finishes to hold the Bulgarian, snipping second by a couple of feet.
