Only the Romanians were slow off the block, and by 750 metres the other three crews had broken well clear. At 900, the Dutch had their noses slightly up on Byelorussia, in their turn a length clear of the USA. BLR kept pressing past the boating area, but as the finish line came in sight, the Dutch went into fifth geat and brought it home as clear winners.
