Tuesday 13th November 2012: "What's the problem with Maths?"

Why are so many people scared of maths? Above all, the subject is full of wonderful surprises, ranging from mind-reading number 'tricks' to using maths to help play the guitar. David Acheson, author of "1089 and All That", brings his guitar to show us how to embrace the numerical world. It's as easy as 1+1=2.... David Acheson

1089 and All That Dr Acheson is an emeritus mathematics fellow of Jesus College Oxford, and guitarist, who now lectures and writes on the subject of maths. He has a YouTube channel on Music & Maths. There will be a book-signing and the opportunity to purchase copies of his paperback, "1089 and All That: A Journey into Mathematics", which has been described as "possibly the nicest maths book ever written", after the end of the main Cafe.

Come along and join us at 7:30pm in the Science Oxford Live venue, St Clement's, Oxford.
Doors open at 7pm, free access to the SO Live Discovery Zone included during the evening.
No ticket, no booking, no scientific background required.
