Professor Peter Rothwell
Tuesday 11th November 2008: "Avoiding strokes - why medical research has been failing patients"
The talk will review recent developments in prevention and treatment of
stroke and will concentrate on two themes that have been of particular
interest to Professor Rothwell over the last 10 years. Firstly, how can we
each reduce our risk of having a stroke (the most common cause of physical
disability in developed countries)? Secondly, why is so little medical
research focused on the sorts of practical questions that are of most
importance to the public, to patients and to practicing clinicians?
Professor Rothwell is Director of the Stroke Prevention Unit at the University of Oxford, and an experienced public science speaker.
Come along and join us at 7pm in Blackwells Main Bookshop, Broad Street, Oxford.
