Dr Stephen Samuel
Tuesday 9th September 2008: "Fuel economy and emission levels"
'Going green' involves more than just a desire to save the planet and a good idea. Scientists are increasingly discovering that they have to be able to measure levels of pollution very precisely in order to determine the best course of action.
Is there any significant difference between real-world emission levels of cars and those which could be labelled certified legislative emission levels' - ie theoretical ones?
Engineering lecturer Dr Stephen Samuel will talk about how real drive-cycles of typical journeys affect how cars produce emissions, the performance of catalytic converters on real journeys, and whether or not it's possible to turn your car green.
Come along and join us at 7pm in Blackwells Main Bookshop, Broad Street, Oxford.
