By Dr. John T. Wills (Starboard Watch Leader)
"I first met the rest of the crew at Glasgow Airport on the 24th October, shortly before flying to Gran Canaria. They seemed like a good bunch of people from a wide range of different backgrounds, all highly motivated and committed. I got on with them straight away and was soon getting to know them better. We arrived in the Canaries early on the Sunday morning and were met by the remainder of the crew who had travelled out the week before (though not the skipper who was asleep). We spent the first day relaxing and swimming, but the remainder of our time in the Canaries was spent buying the extra equipment, tools and spares needed, and generally preparing the boat for sea. This included delivering the boat from Las Palmas to Puerto de Mogan, a distance of some 60 Nautical Miles.
