Clifden, Connemara, Co Galway

The West of Ireland is an enchanting place filled with wonderfully atmospheric towns and villages, long stretches of stunning coastline, soaring sea cliffs, and craggy countryside that boasts a uniquely desolate beauty and a vibrant cultural heritage rich in tradition.

From the rugged Twelve Bens mountain range in the north through lake-rich Roundstone Bog to the golden beaches reaching out into the Atlantic Ocean, you’ll know you're in Connemara by the light that constantly changes the mood and tone of the landscape.

Connemara has long been regarded as the real emerald of Ireland. This natural terrain and un-spoilt environment offers the visitor a wonderland of sights, experiences, adventure and activities. The people are warm, friendly and extend a hospitality that is the essence of Ireland. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connemara

Clifden Town is a truly welcoming town, which boasts a superb selection of pubs, excellent restaurants (with local seafood a specialty in most!) and a cosmopolitan shopping experience with the best of Irish designers located at The Platform and many antique and interior design shops. By night Clifden comes alive with music and fun and Market Square is the perfect place to soak up the atmosphere. There are seven beaches nearby. Cycling, horse riding, golf, sea fishing, scuba diving are available locally.

Our cottage is just one mile outside Clifden Town, on a quiet holiday village called Clifden Glen, an ideal base for touring this beautiful area.
