Margaret Oliver is Reader in Spatial Analysis, Department of Soil Science, University of Reading and is also Honorary Research Fellow at the Institute of Public and Environmental Health, University of Birmingham.
She obtained her BSc at the University of Bristol in Geography and Geology and PhD at the University of Birmingham on spatial variation in soil properties.
Margaret's main professional interests are in applications of geostatistics (spatial staistics) to environmental data eg.soil and disease data.
The results of geostatical analysis require mapping and graphical display - hence the UNIRAS connection. She has used Unimap and Unigraph for about 14 to 15 years (a long time anyway).
Zoe Frogbrook did her undergraduate degree in Environmental Sciences at Brighton University. She then went on to Reading University to do an MRes in Earth and Atmospheric Science. After completing her masters she stayed at Reading for a PhD. This work is based in precision agriculture and examines the variation of soil properties within a field with a view to designing soil sampling schemes. Zoe is currently working at Reading University in the Department of Soil Science and is in the final stages of writing up her thesis.
