In Oxford, I am based at Trinity College as Fellow and Tutor in Engineering (sharing the teaching duties with Dr Steve Sheard).
In the Department of Engineering Science, I am associated with the Solid Mechanics and Materials Engineering Group and the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre.

Actively pursued research topics in solid mechanics include

• singular and fundamental solutions in elasticity and plasticity
• applications of contact mechanics to tribology of coated systems
• residual stress modelling and measurement by neutron and synchrotron X-ray diffraction
• fracture and fatigue of structural alloys and composites
