My next large project will be on ‘Radical Rococo’: on Rococo art and literature (including anacreontic poetry) as an expression of Epicurean philosopy and sentiment. Among the figures to be studied will be the French poet Chaulieu (and his reception); Frederick the Great; and Johann Wilhelm Ludwig Gleim and his circle.
