Gwilym Davies

Gwilym took his undergraduate Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering with Mechanical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. This gave him the chance to study a variety of topics not just in pure Mechanical Engineering, but also to apply those skills to biological applications.

He has an EPSRC grant to perform research leading to a DPhil which started in October 2009. He studies the natural processing environment that allows the silk proteins of silkworms and spiders to be spun into fibres, mainly in vivo, from a biological and engineering perspective.
