Gwilym Davies

Gwilym took his undergraduate Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering with Mechanical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. This gave him the chance to study a variety of topics not just in pure Mechanical Engineering, but also to apply those skills to biological applications.

He has an EPSRC grant to perform research leading to a DPhil which started in October 2009. This allows him to apply the intellectual toolkit of an engineer to the not inconsiderable problems of biology. The particular area of his work is the phenotypic relations in silk morphology, which he studies both qualitatively and quantitatively.
