Course Resources

The latest versions of the files needed for the course are available for download.

Books

My personal favourite at the moment is:

Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 Demystified
Laura Gutman
ISBN 0-7357-1384-7

The book assumes a basic knowledge of Dreamweaver, but its wide range of topics are clearly described and accompanied by useful examples, so that you should find it helps to build on the knowledge you gained on the course.

A colleague of mine recommends:

Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 Hands on Training
Garo Green
ISBN 0-3212-0297-X

If you are particularly interested in CSS, you might want to consider:

Designing Without Tables Using CSS
Dan Shafer
ISBN 0-9579218-2-9

The CSS Anthology: 101 Essential Tips, Tricks and Hacks
Rachel Andrew
ISBN 0-95792218-8-8

If you are interested in web page design in terms of layout and style, a good book to have is:

Web Style Guide
Patrick Lynch and Sarah Horton
ISBN 0-3000889-8-1
available online

If you have come across a book that has been helpful, let me know and I will add it to the list

Dreamweaver Extensions

One of the great features about Dreamweaver is that it can be extended. Dreamweaver developers can write extensions to add new features and then make them available for others to use. For example, if you want to add a simple search engine to your web pages you could take a look at the Google extension.

Extensions are available through the Macromedia Exchange. Some are free, others need to be paid for.

FAQs

A number of common questions are asked on the sessions, the answers to which are a little outside the scope of the course. I will collect some of them here, but remember to also explore the Useful URLs section below.
