My research lies in the broad area of condensed matter theory, in which the aim is to understand the physical properties of materials consisting of enormously large numbers of interacting particles. Of particular interest are so-called strongly-correlated systems, where the interparticle interactions are simply too large to ignore or treat using an 'averaged' mean-field approach. The aim instead is to develop novel theories of many-body quantum mechanics.
