Artist’s Statement

All of my work originates from some long held preoccupations, revolving around our relationship with the landscape, including prehistory and archaeology, architecture and the British coastline. Walking, recording and memorialising our environment, influenced by the British land artists of the 1960s, I work across media – including sculpture, drawing and photography – seeking to capture a sense of history and the passing of time, of process and the ephemeral. Within this context my drawings are as much about the act of removal as they are about adding marks. My current body of work is a record of some of my visits to ancient monuments and sacred sites across the British Isles.
