How hard is it to learn ?

Martial art skill can't be acquired in a couple of hours - nobody would expect to become competent at ballet or gymnastics in an afternoon, and the abilities required to subdue an aggressive opponent certainly aren't simpler than these. However you don't have to be superhuman to do join us - martial artists are trained not born - and after a couple of weeks we'd expect you to have learnt the rudiments of strikes, basic joint locks, and be able to escape from a variety of holds.

After a solid term of training most people will have substantially improved their fitness and flexibility, be able to kick through an inch of wood, use a score of locks and releases, and easily throw someone their own weight - and after that you can only get better!
